Organisational Structure

Cordeaux Staff
Tongarra Staff
Administration Staff
THE PRINCIPAL
Each campus has a Principal who is responsible for the daily running of education in the school, being assisted in this by the Deputy Principal and teachers appointed by the Board.
In addition, one of the Principals also performs an executive role and is accountable to the Board, being responsible for overall educational policy and financial management.
THE BUSINESS MANAGER
The Business Manager is accountable to the Executive Principal and is responsible for formulating administrative and financial policy and the daily running of administration and finance in the school, being assisted in this by administrative staff appointed by the Board.
COMMITTEES
Standing committees are established by the Board to manage an area of activity on behalf of the Board. Committee members must be Association members and each committee will be represented by a Director.
Examples of committees established by the Board include:
- Local Campus Committee.
- Finance Committee.
- Education Committee.
TASK FORCES
Task Forces are established by the Board to investigate and report on a specific issue on behalf of the Board. Task Forces have a set duration and will finish upon completion of their task. Task Force members must be Association members, and each task force will be represented by a Director.
CAMPUS COMMITTEE
Each campus has a local Campus Committee, which operates under the authority of the Board, and is a major vehicle to enable parents to take practical responsibility for their campus. The Campus Committee has a key role of facilitating two way communication between the local campus and the school Board.
Each member of the Campus Committee must be a full member of the School Association and is elected yearly. Elections are held each year at the Term 3 Open Forum, with the changeover commencing at the beginning of Term 4. Many of the Campus Committee members head Campus Teams, such as fundraising, uniforms, grounds and maintenance, etc. Any interested parent is most welcome to become part of and contribute to any of the Campus Teams.
The major functions of the Campus Committee are to:
Provide direction to the Campus Teams.
Review recommendations from the Campus Teams to ensure consistency with our school ethos, policies, the Principal’s priorities and Board direction. Recommendations from the Campus Teams that are consistent with the above criteria will normally be accepted
Responsibilities and activities of the Campus Committee include:
Making representations to the Board in support of policies that directly or uniquely affect the local campus.
Implementation of policies for which staff members are not responsible.
Passing on local issues and concerns to the Board.
Parent helper and involvement rosters, such as working bees.
Property and Gardens matters.
Maintenance of school uniform shops and providing recommendations to the Board for uniform changes from the uniform committee.
Within-campus fund raising for the provision of desirable aids and equipment to assist in the education process and to improve the amenity of the campus.
Promoting the participation of parents and friends in supporting the school.
Assisting in organization of school functions.
CAMPUS TEAMS Each Campus Committee will have a number of Campus Teams that reflect the individual needs of each campus. Each Campus Team will have a coordinator who is one of the elected members on the Campus Committee. The whole school community – association and non-association members – are eligible to be involved in the Campus Teams.
Each Campus Team will normally have a core group from the school community, and may also form short term groups for specific activities such as major fund raising events. A Campus Team will meet as often as necessary to fulfil its function.
The Campus Teams will provide recommendations to the Campus Committee. If the Campus Committee has already approved expenditure on particular items, the Campus Team can proceed immediately. For example, the Fund-Raising Campus Team would make recommendations on the allocation of funds. In this example, the Campus Team would form those recommendations on the basis of input from the Principal and on suggestions from the school community.
