On Thursday 4th April, the Year 11 Design and Technology and Visual Arts students boarded an early 7:30am bus for a visit to SPACE Furniture/Lighting, the Powerhouse Museum and the Art Gallery of NSW in Sydney, to view last year’s Major Design Projects and Folios. We were all taken by the innovative and sometimes simple solutions achieved to problems that the students faced.
We also visited SPACE Furniture and Lighting to gain further insight into a wide range of design solutions that were applied to a range of lighting and furnishing products. The Design and Technology students are just starting to design a lighting solution of their own and they appreciated seeing how other designers from across the globe have approached this problem.
Our students had the opportunity to read, photograph and carefully review these cleverly constructed designs. Year 11 students have only two more terms before they start their Year 12 major projects and folios for their Higher School Certificates. Finding new and creative problems to solve is challenging, and finding the solutions to them even more confronting, but we serve a God with infinite creativity who can inspire and lead us in our solutions.
Naturally, we did not let our students go hungry and we stopped at their favourite fast food outlet! It was pleasing to see that Zac’s preferred drink was NOT the same as Mr Lainson’s!
