At Illawarra Christian School, we take seriously our responsibility for pastoral care of our students in their final year of schooling. Our mentoring program was born out of the desire to care for each student in a personal way.
Students in their final year at school are individually matched with a staff member who takes on the responsibility of helping to guide them through this important year of schooling.
Year 12 students meet with their mentors every week, with the opportunity to talk through challenges, receive advice and guidance, pray together and simply get to know each other better. The mentor can provide for the student a significant form of adult support outside of their family.
Here, Abbey and her mentor, Kate Wilkinson, chat together about what they’ve enjoyed about their time in the mentor program.
