On Tuesday 10th April, the Year 11 Design and Technology students boarded a bus for a visit to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, to view last year’s Major Design Projects and Folios.
We were all taken by the innovative and sometimes simple solutions achieved to problems that the students faced. We also thought, “Why hasn’t someone thought of this before?”
Our students had the opportunity to read, photograph and carefully review these cleverly constructed projects firsthand. This was instructive for our Year 11 students, who have only two more terms before they start their Year 12 major projects and folios for the HSC. Finding new and creative problems to solve is challenging! Finding the solutions to them is even more of a confrontation, but we know we serve a God with infinite creativity who can inspire and lead us in our solutions.
To my surprise, the students were insistent on making a visit to the Wiggles exhibition, where they all relived a little of their childhood memories and enjoyed some quality time in the “Big Red Car”!
We extend our special thanks to Mrs Dodd for accompanying the D&T students on the bus trip to and from Sydney. Thanks also to our Coach Captain, Steve from Premier Illawarra, who navigated his way through the Sydney traffic!
