Come on through for all the pics and details about the Year 8 Koloona camp!
Year 8 spent two days at the Anglican Youthworks Koloona campsite, west of Nowra. The weather was fine, and students rotated through different activities around the Shoalhaven River and surrounding bush.
The students were stretched to achieve goals that they had identified at the start of each activity. This may have been putting on an abseiling harness and standing at the top of the cliff. For others, it was attempting to abseil down the 10m cliff. Some then progressed (with huge grins) to give the 20m cliff a go.
The low ropes course required balance, critical thinking and teamwork. During archery, the students encouraged each other to improve their techniques. When orienteering, groups tested their ability to navigate through the dense bush and steep terrain using a map and compass bearings.
Canoeing on the chilly water of the Shoalhaven River was enjoyed by many. Some canoeists were unfortunate and capsized! Mr Shannon and his canoeing buddy showed great perseverance to slowly take their capsized canoe back to shore themselves and not make use of the rescue boat. All students enjoyed the after-dinner activity, running around in the dark in teams searching for lost princesses!
