On the evening of Tuesday 20 August, eight speakers from our school competed in the South Coast Public Speaking Competition at Holy Spirit College in Bellambi.
Eighteen schools entered, and there was strong competition with very capable speakers participating. We are thrilled to have placed second overall to Smith’s Hill High School.
The overall point tally for the top four schools was:
First place (17 points) – Smith’s Hill High School
Second place (16 points ) – Illawarra Christian School
Third place (15 points) – Holy Spirit College
Fourth place (12 points) – Corpus Christi.
The participating students from ICS were Rosie Finley, Jayda Brain, Ella Story, Jack Taylor, Olivia La Macchia, Matthew Nuske, Alicia Widjaja and Hannah Xiao. These students have all achieved incredible results, reflecting their hard work and God-given abilities. They have shown discipline and an admirable growth mindset as they continually edited and refined their speeches.
Special congratulations to our first placed speakers Rosie and Jack, and our second placed speakers Ella, Alicia and Matthew.
