At Illawarra Christian School, students in K-2 are engaged in activities that explore and discover God’s natural world. Students work collaboratively in hands-on activities to solve real-world problems. They engage in practical learning tasks in Science and Technology where they design and create pet and mini-beast enclosures.
Students develop their design and engineering skills while building toys, musical instruments and simple machines to solve practical problems.
Students are also introduced to the programming of digital devices and learn to follow a set of simple instructions to control devices. The skills of coding are explored in Mathematics and Technology through Blue Bots, iPads, Chromebooks and Spheros, using the programs Scratch Junior, Sphero Edu and Studio Code. These learning experiences provide a strong foundation for the Primary and High School years in STEM.
