Things might be winding down at this time of year, but for our primary choir, everything was ramping up as they headed out on their annual Christmas mini-tour!
Choir mini-tour visits local nursing homes
Last Tuesday 4th December saw our primary choir, accompanied by intrepid and hardworking choirmaster, Mrs Judy Peters, hitting the road to share some Christmas spirit with Wollongong.
First and second stops were two local nursing homes, where the choir gave performances of Christmas carols to delighted residents, and no doubt charmed the socks off everyone they met. We think the pictures speak for themselves!
Singing about Christmas at Wollongong mall
Following these visits, the choir made their way to Crown St Mall, Wollongong, and took the stage to entertain the hordes of busy Christmas shoppers. They sang a mix of traditional and contemporary Christmas songs, with some classic Colin Buchanan tunes thrown in for good measure! A special mention must be made of the brave efforts of our soloists, who did a fabulous job in their leading roles.
A starring role at Figtree Community Carols
With all this practice behind them, when it came to Saturday night, 8th December, the choir couldn’t have been more ready to take the stage at the annual Figtree Community Carols. We know many of their friends and families were there to see them perform and trust they were as proud of them as we are. Our junior school music teacher, Mrs Judy Peters, has devoted many hours this year (and given up many lunch breaks!) to encourage and train the choir, and we know the school community will join with us in our thanks for her dedicated commitment!
