Our learning support team works closely with teachers and parents to cater for student learning needs from Kindergarten through to Year 6.
Our dedicated teacher aides support students’ learning in the classroom, working with individual students or with small groups. Some students attend small numeracy and literacy classes where they feel safe to ask questions and practise concepts in a more individualised environment.
The provision of learning support changes as the needs of our students change. Our understanding of individual students ensures that learning needs are identified early and that no student is able to fall through the gaps. Student needs are assessed regularly, and specialised programs are implemented as required.
An Individual Education Plan is created for students who have special needs in physical, learning or mental health areas. This plan sets goals and provides recommendations on how we plan to meet the particular needs of each student. The IEPs are developed in consultation with parents and are updated as new information becomes available.
The Multilit Reading Program takes students back to the basics of phonics. It is a systematic approach to reading instruction that helps students who find reading difficult make gains in their reading abilities. This early intervention has benefits across all key learning areas.
The Get Reading Right Phonics program is used in infants classrooms. It provides students with consistent reading and spelling strategies that boost their confidence and enhance learning in all areas.
