Our Prep renovations are in full swing! Here’s what’s happened already, and what is still in progress.
What’s the big news for Prep?
The exciting news is that our Prep expansion project has meant that new spaces in our Prep have opened up in 2019, and they are filling quickly! The expanded space for learning and play means we have been able to offer an extra eight spaces for students three days a week. At the time of writing, there are only a handful of spots left, so if you or someone you know has been considering enrolling in Prep next year, don’t delay! Give our registrar a call to find out more.
What will the new Prep space look like inside?
There are lots of fabulous additions to our Prep space which will help our playing and learning together. Perhaps the most immediately obvious is that inside, we now have two separate, large classroom areas—the newly named Blossom and Gumnut rooms. Each room has its own dedicated locker room for keeping bags, lunchboxes and other gear.
In addition, our bathroom has been moved to the centre of the Prep, accessible from both sides, making life easier in those urgent moments!
There will be brand new built in storage along the walls in the Blossom and Gumnut rooms (and as you can see from the photos, we have plenty still to put in there!). Inside the front sliding doors will be a wet area with sinks which will make cleaning up from art activities fast and easy.
How about outside?
Our outside play spaces are getting an overhaul too. Off the back of our Prep building there is now brand new decking which leads into a brand new play space. It will be equipped with all kinds of natural play equipment, including a handwoven willow play space – perfect for all sorts of imaginative adventures!
Off the undercover verandah area we have a brand new storage space for all our outdoor equipment, making it faster and more efficient to find the things we need for serious outdoor play.
What still needs to be done?
At the time of writing, we are still waiting on some plumbing, some cupboard fitting, some improvements to the new play area, and of course the whole internal space needs to be repainted as well.
With the fabulous help of some of our secondary school students on their Service Day, all of the Prep equipment has been moved up out of storage and is ready for its new home. It goes without saying that it will be a busy “holiday” break for our Prep staff, and we are so thankful to them for the way they have both taken on these extra responsibilities, and also worked around the renovation during Term 4.
We can’t wait to show our new Prep to you in 2019!
