It’s Grand Designs: Prep style…
Prep renovations: inside and out
Despite significant rain over the holiday break, work on renovating our Prep classrooms got off to a cracking start. The new extension to the Prep building will provide us with a second dedicated classroom when the work is finished. Moreover, we will be renovating and relocating the bathroom space to the middle of the Prep building.
There are updates to the play areas planned too. A new outdoor natural play space will provide an unstructured space for learning and for our students to engage in spontaneous play.
Together, these renovations will not only provide space for more students to attend our Prep, but will also allow us to better structure our classroom spaces to suit children of different ages and abilities.
Prep arrangements for Term 4 this year
Our Prep students have been relocated to the Junior library for Term 4. This was a significant effort, only possible due to the help from our school community in recent working bees, as well as the hard work of our Prep staff. This means a small amount of pain for long term gain for the Prep community, but we’re also enjoying our outdoor spaces for learning—after all, it’s one of the benefits of being part of the wider ICS community!
A new Junior school playground!
Thanks to the hard work of our grounds staff, we have a new playground area to enjoy this term too. It’s located directly adjacent to the Junior library and is accessible within a securely fenced enclosure. Complete with a cubby house, vegetable gardens, climbing slope and slippery dip, we think it’s pretty great.
Stay tuned for more updates about our Prep redevelopment over the course of this term. We’re excited about what’s to come!
