In Romans 12, Paul challenges us in light of God’s mercy to offer our lives as pleasing sacrifices to God. The renewal of our mind and doing God’s will is our sacrifice to God. This sacrifice offered to God is our transformation. This year we explored the concept of transformation.
As Christians we are to devote our life to being changed. We are to be transformed! It’s present tense, ongoing, continual growth in un-conforming ourselves to the world. It is more than outward profession of faith. It is more than occasional good works or a list of ‘Christian activities’ we do. It is complete transformation of our way of thinking, acting and being. It is transformation in accordance with God’s way of seeing, viewing and understanding his world and everything in it.
As followers of Christ, we are called to be transformers of everything that is broken in our world.
As a school we want to have a transformed worldview. A faithful, Christ-centred, transformed worldview that informs all of life.
We want to be a transformed community. A community under Christ, learning and caring together.
And finally, we want to have a transformed learning culture. We want to honour God by striving for excellence.
This year we explored the theme of transformation. It has been a pleasure to be part of this journey with students, staff and parents and I look forward to building on these concepts with the Illawarra Christian School community in 2019.
Thank you to all our staff for their faithful service and dedication during 2018. It is a pleasure to work alongside side a capable and godly group of people. Sadly, we farewell Mr Tim Hewitt who will taking up a position as Deputy Principal at Covenant Christian School in Sydney in 2019. We also pray for Mrs Emma Jones as she awaits the delivery of her baby and thank her for her hard work on Year 1 in Term 4. Thanks also to Miss Jessica Ratcliffe who has been with us for Terms 3 and 4 this year, filling in for Mrs Williams.
Thank you for your partnership with our school this year. Happy Christmas and may God richly bless you and your family over the school holiday break.
