“But God demonstrated his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
God’s love is abundant in mercy, justice, wisdom, beauty, joy, grace and peace. His greatest act of love was in sending his son Jesus Christ to die and pay the penalty for our sin so that we might be reconciled to him and be saved. Scripture tells us that we love God because he first loved us, and he loved us while we were still in a state of rebellion against him. To love and obey God is to believe, receive, follow, admire, enjoy, treasure, delight in, desire him, and be satisfied in him. If we truly love God then it is Christ who lives in us, and our lives should reflect his character and produce the fruit of his Spirit. Our lives, lived out in love, should point others to Christ.
This weekend we reflect on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus as we celebrate Easter. At the very heart of Christian education is our understanding of who Jesus is and what he has achieved for us on the cross. As a holy and righteous king he was the only one who was able to pay the sacrifice possible to enable us to be brought into right relationship with God.
I trust you enjoy a wonderful and safe long weekend as we give thanks to God for his goodness to us in Jesus. Happy Easter.
