Located six kilometres from Wollongong’s city centre, with over 600 students from Prep to Year 12, Illawarra Christian School has a well-established record of nurturing students through a biblically-based curriculum that supports their intellectual, spiritual, social and emotional growth. We value partnering with parents as we seek to bring out the best in each of our students and to prepare them for meaningful and rewarding engagement with the broader community. Our primary purpose at Illawarra Christian School is to foster a love of Christ in our students as they experience the joy of learning.
Pursuing excellence in a vibrant learning community centred on a biblical worldview
Equipping with a Christ-centred worldview
Our fundamental purpose is to provide an education informed by God’s word as we lead our students to understand themselves and their world in the light of God’s sovereignty. All curriculum and policy materials are founded on a biblical worldview, and Christian values and principles are woven through every dimension of learning at Illawarra Christian School. We aim to instruct our students’ minds, shape their hearts and equip their hands so that they might be prepared for a life of service and honour to God.
Honouring God by striving for excellence
Students at Illawarra Christian School are encouraged to honour God and to contribute to their school community by pursuing excellence in all domains. Striving to do our best – to achieve personal excellence – has the most meaning and brings the deepest fulfilment when it is done for the glory of God. We encourage our students to embrace challenge and to have a mindset for constant growth and refinement in their academic studies, character development, spiritual life and extracurricular activities.
Learning and caring together
Illawarra Christian School is a dynamic community of partnerships between parents, staff and students, fostered through open communication and active parent involvement. The school is an extension of the Christian home with staff and parents working together to educate and care for our students. The warm, nurturing relationships between staff and students enrich the learning experiences and contribute to a positive and vibrant learning environment. Each child is valued as a precious member of our community.

We acknowledge the Wadi Wadi people of the Dharawal country, the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is built. We pay our respects to all their elders, past and present, and pray that God would unite us all in the knowledge of his Son, in whom all things were created, in heaven and on earth, whether visible or invisible – for all things have been created through him and for him.
